Smart Grid
Energy independence is a sparkling example of a goal on which elected officials and business leaders across various sectors – most notably, technology and communications – have found wide agreement. One of the most rapidly developing means to achieve that goal – as well as energy savings, increased reliability and energy cost-savings – is through a "smart grid," which updates traditional power grids by carrying electricity using digital technology. Smart grids essentially take an electricity grid and deliver to it communications and computer technology, so that suppliers can deliver electricity to consumers in a wider range of conditions, while also accommodating wind and solar power sources.
Each day, you will find the latest news, articles, interviews, videos, white papers, and other featured content about smart grids here on the TMCnet-hosted smart grids industry site. This site is your resource for the rapidly developing technologies that surround smart grids, and for how officials in the government and private sector are turning toward smart grids as issues such as global warming, energy independence and emergency resilience take center stage.
