AlertEnterprise Unveils Innovative NERC Compliance Solution
January 23, 2012
AlertEnterprise, a provider of enterprise identity and access management solutions, has just unveiled its AlertEnterprise Compliance Express Solution, a Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) solution designed to meet NERC compliance.
Created specifically to be utilized by cooperative and municipal utilities, the solution includes pre-configured solution packs for NERC (News - Alert) Operational Reliability standards and NERC CIP standards, providing small to medium-size utilities with the deployment flexibility they need, company officials said.
“With Compliance Express, co-ops can free staff resources from the regulatory tangle with an easy to deploy, easy to use solution that will streamline lifecycle and management processes, significantly improve audit resiliency and overcome looming fines,” said AlertEnterprise CEO, Jasvir Gill, in a statement.
The Compliance Express boasts features such as centralized document management and tracking, workflow management, automated compliance reminders for critical timelines and reporting deliverables, and role-based access control, and more.
Through ensuring NERC compliance, the new solution provides utilities with full compliance lifecycle support, organized evidence management, instant accountability and progress tracking of all NERC regulations, inclusive of NERC CIP.
Offers a wide range of deployment options such as allowing users to leverage ready-to-deploy virtual image software and pre-loaded appliance offerings, the company also plans to offer a Cloud-based easy-start version in future.
Moreover, the innovative solution is also comprised of risk analysis across IT applications, Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) and SCADA equipment. To enable these features, optional connectors are required, according to the company.
The unveiling of the Compliance Express falls in line with the notion that as the smart grid continues to expand, it needs to continue to be protected to avoid potential cyber attacks, MIT (News - Alert) researchers recently revealed in a new study. Although certain standards and practices have already been implemented, "there's so much confusion because of the various parties that have their hands in the mix that the utilities themselves are left in a wait-and-see mode," said Patrick Miller, president and CEO of the National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization (NESCO) in a statement.
