Pacific Northwest Utility Company Ensures NERC Compliance with TITUS Solutions
January 31, 2012
TITUS Information Security Solutions, a provider of security and compliance solutions to military, government, and large enterprises, has revealed that a utility company in the Pacific Northwest has recently chosen TITUS classification products to secure their sensitive information and ensure NERC compliance.
The NERC (News - Alert) compliance program ensures that the right practices are in place “so that the likelihood and severity of future system disturbances are substantially reduced.” To ensure this, NERC has created a set of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards that ensure the information and computer systems security for any entity that generates, distributes or transmits power across the grid.
TITUS helps companies adhere to NERC compliance by addressing many core information security requirements for the standard. In addition, the solution helps end users identify and classify sensitive information and then generate log files from classification. They can automatically embed metadata into e-mail or any documents.
The utility company in the Pacific Northwest has deployed TITIS security solutions, which are comprised of the TITUS Message Classification, TITUS Classification for Microsoft (News
- Alert) Office, and TITUS Classification for Desktop, to identify, classify and protect unstructured data to meet NERC compliance and data governance requirements, company officials said.
TITUS Message Classification classifies, labels, and marks e-mails in Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Web Access, and mobile devices. TITUS Classification for Microsoft Office classifies, labels and protectively marks documents in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. TITUS Classification for Desktop classifies any file type in Windows Explorer, including Adobe (News - Alert) PDF, multimedia files, and CAD documents.
By leveraging these NERC Compliance solutions, organizations can assess adherence levels and identify possible deficiencies in their information protection program in order to retain information.
