Since 2008, Peter Schmitt has led ASC’s research and development department, focusing on communications recording and quality monitoring solutions. Prior to that, from 1989 to 2008, he held a series of positions with Honeywell, Inc., and its subsidiaries around the world. These include six years in a product management role leading an application team for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India at its Center for Advanced Solutions; a senior software engineer and project manager at the Honeywell Software Centre in Sydney, Australia; and global team leadership positions for R&D and software development for building management and security systems.
Mr. Schmitt’s areas of expertise include project management for both small-scale and complex solutions; technical skills with interfaces and networks; relational databases; open standards such as BACnet, OPC and LON; and applications for telephone systems, digital video and access control, intrusion detection, ERP systems, HVAC and energy management. His background also includes detailed knowledge of the Windows and UNIX operating systems.
Mr. Schmitt has been certified or received extensive training in Design for Six Sigma, Concept Engineering CQM, Total Quality, management and communication techniques, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Reusability and User-Centered Design. He received a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 1989.
