PGMA cites Cyber Teleservice in Clark for its ?no poaching' policy

CLARK FREEPORT, Mar 30, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has commended the "no poaching" policy of Cyber City Teleservices here, the first privately held call center outside of Metro Manila which was founded in 1999 with 3500 employees in Clark, Davao, Manila, Columbia, London, New Jersy USA, and soon in Panama.

The President made her commendation during the recent Cabinet meeting held at the Atrium section of the Cyber City complex here.

President Arroyo also cited the Cyber City for being the first ISO 27001 certified call center in the Philippines and second in Asia; the first call center in Mindanao; for having the first Technology Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-approved call center training program; and for being one of the pioneers in the Philippine call center industry.

Cyber City was likewise acclaimed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Department of Labor and employment (DOLE) for translating leadership and commitment into action; given the ?Best of the Best Award? in 2008 in Australia and the ?Best in Community Spirit? Gold Medal by Contact Center World APEC region and Worlds Awards in Las Vegas, USA.

Jonathan Rosenberg, chairman and CEO of Cyber City, together with George Sorio, senior executive vice president, Don Felbaum, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, and Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III, chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, formed the receiving line in welcoming President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

During the Cabinet meeting, Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III, Chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, presented the global competitive edge of the Philippines under the Cyber Services Corridor.

The Cyber Services Corridor is an ICT channel running over 600 miles across the country, from Baguio City in the North and Zamboanga down south of the archipelago supported by a $ 10-billion high band width fiber back bone and digital network, the home to numerous cyberservice providers that supply expert services in various fields of ICT like business process outsourcing (BPO), contact centers, animation, medial and legal transcription, software development, e-learning, e-entertainment and gaming and other back office operations (e.g. finance and accounting, human resource development, etc.).

The Cyber Services Corridor is the brainchild of President Arroyo, which led businesses and industries to have increasingly grown with other sectors in the economy. (PNA)
