Transcom to start Bacolod call center operations in August

BACOLOD CITY, Jul 20, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- ? Transcom Asia will start its call center operations here on August 1, in a 1,000-seat facility to be known as Transcom Center Bacolod at Lopue?s South Square.

Duncan Cowie, regional general manager for North America and Asia Pacific, said Transcom Center Bacolod will be inaugurated in October in time for the MassKara Festival celebration.

Cowie said the Transcom Center Bacolod will be part of the ?Transcom City? complex, which will include sports, recreational, and wellness facilities for its employees.

Siva Subramaniam, Transcom Philippines country manager, said the Bacolod operations is expected ?to be full by the end of 2009? with the hiring of 2,000 call center agents.

?We have arrived. The plan has been in the making for more than a year,? he said.

Bacolod is Transcom?s second site in the Philippines after it opened its first facility in Pasig City last year.

Transcom Bacolod Center will be the 14th site to be accredited by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority in Bacolod, and once issued a presidential proclamation, it will be the eighth IT economic zone in the city.

Transcom, a leading BPO company in Europe, specializes in outbound sales, inbound care, and collection services.

Including Transcom, Bacolod now hosts four major call centers, including Teleperformance, TeleTech, and Convergys and three medium-sized BPO companies, Focus Pacific Communications, Next Level IT Teleservices, and Telequest BPO Center.

Founded in Sweden in 1995, Transcom, mainly owned by Swedish investment group Kinnevik, the eighth largest in Europe, has more than 22,000 employees in 29 countries.

The OMX Nordic Exchange-listed company has posted a 24 percent average annual revenue growth since 1999, and its net sales in 2008 increased by 5.4 percent to 631.8 million euro.
