Enphase Energy Ships 100,000 Solar Microinverters
PETALUMA, CA, Oct 05, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Enphase Energy, the leader in solar microinverter systems, shipped
its 100,000th unit in September 2009, reaching this remarkable
milestone just over a year after the product's launch in July 2008.
The company was also recognized by GreenTech Media as the
fastest-growing solar inverter company in the U.S. in a recent report
[http://www.greentechmedia.com/sponsored/resource-center/].
"Enphase has emerged as the fastest growing inverter company in the
U.S. A stellar achievement by a startup in a challenged market,"
said Eric Wesoff, Senior Analyst, GreenTech Media. "Even more
compelling is the sales pipeline for Enphase. By all indications
Enphase will be ramping up to hundreds of thousands of units in 2010,
putting microinverters within a rounding error of a 4 percent global
market share in the once-stagnant inverter market."
Enphase Microinverter Systems convert the DC output of a single solar
module into grid compliant AC power. Enphase systems offer a number
of advantages over traditional central inverters including a five to
25 percent increase in energy harvest, increased system reliability
and a simpler -- and safer -- installation. Enphase also removes
design constraints because modules can now be installed in any
combination of type, age, and location. In addition, a proprietary
communication technology is embedded into each microinverter enabling
continuous, remote, per-module monitoring to identify any problems
quickly and maximize energy production.
"The adoption of the Enphase Microinverter System by installers large
and small has greatly exceeded our expectations," said Paul Nahi,
president and CEO, Enphase. "Customers, system installers and
distributors throughout the country recognize the unprecedented value
these microinverters bring to solar power systems and are asking for
the Enphase Microinverter by name."
One key reason the Enphase Microinverter has such a high adoption
rate is due to the simplicity of installation. Installers can train
new staff members much more quickly with microinverter technology
compared to traditional inverters, enabling them to improve their
time-to-productivity. This benefit, along with others, has convinced
many solar installers to use Enphase Microinverters exclusively. To
date, Enphase Microinverters have been installed in residential and
commercial sites in virtually all 50 U.S. states and Canada, boosting
overall solar growth.
"We use Enphase Microinverters in all our installations," says Donna
Bourdeau, president, Power1Solar. "Our customers value the
productivity and savings they deliver and our technicians love the
ease of installation and maintenance."
