As part of "We Honor Veterans," a program developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Hospice of the Northwest staff and volunteers will learn how to serve veterans through the challenges they may be facing from illness, isolation or traumatic life experience.

The organization will increase its capacity to provide quality care for veterans, strengthen partnerships with veteran organizations, improve access to hospice care and network with other hospices to learn about best practice models.

"America's veterans have selfishly served our country, and now it is time for us to step up and acquire the skills and resources to fulfill our mission to serve these men and women with the respect they deserve," states Jean Leib, Hospice of the Northwest's executive director.

Hospice of the Northwest provides comprehensive, compassionate care when a cure is no longer possible, and serves Skagit, Island, San Juan and Snohomish counties.

Contact Hospice of the Northwest at 360-814-5550 or 800-894-5877.
