BRIEF: Man charged with stealing copper from GE Transportation

Nov 14, 2012 (Erie Times-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man working a construction job at GE Transportation has been charged with stealing more than $29,000 worth of copper cable from the Lawrence Park Township plant.

Daniel L. Saulnier, 33, of the 5700 block of Old French Road, was arraigned late Tuesday night before Springfield Township District Judge Chris MacKendrick on felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Lawrence Park police accuse Saulnier of taking cable valued at $29,289.10 from GE Transportation, 2901 East Lake Road, between May 3 and Sept. 26, while working as a safety officer for another company performing work at the plant, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.

Police said Saulnier sold the copper to an Erie metal recycling business for $14,239.65, according to the complaint.

Saulnier was placed in the Erie County Prison on $10,000 bond.
