Capella University Recognizes Nursing Faculty with DAISY Award

Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has awarded core nursing faculty Christy Davidson, DNP, RNC-OB, and Barbara Schreiner, PhD, RN, CDE, BC-ADM, each with the DAISY Faculty Award, a national award program established by the DAISY Foundation to recognize nursing educators for their commitment and inspirational influence on students. "Barb and Christy emulate the spirit of the DAISY Faculty Award. They both worked diligently to ensure that Capella received CCNE** accreditation for the BSN, MSN (in 2011) and the DNP (in 2012)," said Mary Bemker, RN, DSN, PsyS, director of Capella's Nursing Department. "Faculty are the backbone of Capella's nursing rogram, and Christy and Barb reflect the highest quality of our nursing department."

The DAISY Faculty Award was established by the DAISY Foundation as part of its service to the nursing profession's role in patient care in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of an auto-immune disease. The Foundation hopes that, in some way, this program will contribute to a positive work environment and encourage them to continue teaching.
