Lowfoot, Inc. Opens US Headquarters in Houston
HOUSTON --(Business Wire)--
Lowfoot, Inc. has established its US operations headquarters in Houston,
Texas as part of its continued international expansion. The
Toronto-based company is a leader in providing improved use of smart
meter data for consumers and retail energy providers (REPs), as well as
Municipal, Cooperative and Investor Owned Utilities. Its patent-pending
proprietary software is able to analyze data from smart meters,
aggregate it and help REPs reduce energy consumption during peak times
and mitigate wholesale energy price spikes.
"Texas is one of the top ranking states for adopting performance
enhancing technologies and is now engaged in the pursuit of energy
efficiency through technology and innovation. Lowfoot fits with the
state's entrepreneurial spirit and drive to reduce costs and improve
operations," said Philip Playfair, founder and CEO of Lowfoot. "We have
tpped into the vibrant Texas talent pool and are receiving a very
positive response from market participants," he added.
Lowfoot enables REPs to improve customer engagement through sharing
smart meter data in a friendly format, including online and on mobile
devices. Lowfoot's technology gives REPs and utilities the ability to
influence and shift peak energy usage. The Lowfoot tool set offers a
critical capability for REPs as the cap on wholesale electricity moves
from $4,500 a megawatt in 2013 to $9,000 in 2015.
Lowfoot technology is also available for non-profit and member
organizations. Its unique smart meter data and member management tools
allow organizations to quickly establish the means to breathe new life
into their fundraising campaigns.
Founded in 2009, Lowfoot is a privately held corporation with
headquarters in Toronto, Canada. It also has member participation in
California, Canada, Europe and Texas. Lowfoot is a rapidly growing
provider of innovative solutions for the utility industry. Its business
objective is to lower peak usage in order to limit the need for "peaker"
