Atmel enters into license agreement with Exegin for ZigBee stacks

Jan 23, 2013 (WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) -- Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq:ATML), a provider of microcontroller (MCU) and touch technology solutions, announced on Tuesday the signing of an agreement with Exegin Technologies Limited, a supplier of ZigBee network stacks, to jointly offer integrated wireless communications solutions for smart grid applications.

Under this agreement, financial details of which were not available, Exegin will license its ZigBee networking stacks to Atmel for use in a variety of solutions for smart grid applications in wireless mesh networks.

This joint collaboration is expected to enable smart metering customers to enjoy a full range of integrated smart metering solutions in the 2.4GHz and sub-GHz bands.
