Turku, Finland, Feb 04, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Vaadin, the company behind popular Java-based web application tools, announced today a new major version 7 of the Vaadin Framework. New client-server stack, and 65 other new features This is the first major update to the framework since its launch in 2009. "The technology behind the framework has been in production since 2001, which is a pretty long time for a development tool like this," says Joonas Lehtinen, CEO at Vaadin. "A thorough renewal was made for it to meet the needs of modern web application development." "We didn't abandon the core architecture of the framework, but extended and opened the APIs with new client-side features that help building HTML5 and offline mobile applications," tells Artur Signell, head of Development at Vaadin. "The easy and secure server-side component architecture is still the foundation of it. "However, now it is also easier to build applications and new components that run in browser and offload the server." Enterprise-grade tools for the professional community Vaadin is commonly used to build so called Rich Internet Applications (RIA). Primarily used to build custom Java enterprise systems, Vaadin provides a set of high-quality user interface widgets and components to create and maintain user interfaces for web-based systems.

During the years, the open source community behind the framework has grown big and strong. "Over 40 000 registered members put us in an excellent position to understand the needs of enterprise application development." Vaadin is used in numerous projects by large and small organizations in over 160 countries. The active community gives a lot of valuable feedback to the core development team and the over 300 add-on component contributions to the Vaadin Framework show the power of open source collaboration. " No other Java-based user interface library can really say the same." continues Joonas Lehtinen.
