VidCon 2013 To Be Held August 1-3 at Anaheim Convention Center
LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--
More than ten thousand people are once again expected to descend upon
the Anaheim Convention Center this summer for what has become the
largest and most anticipated industry conference and fan extravaganza
for online video. The 4th annual VidCon will be held at the
Anaheim Convention Center Thursday, August 1- Saturday, August 3, 2013.
The first day of the conference will be Industry Day, which will be
geared toward industry professionals and the overall business of online
video. The second and third days will continue with an industry track
but will focus more on the fans and feature a variety of performances,
celebrity meet-ups, panel discussions, dance parties, concerts, an
outdoor "chill" area, an expo hall and much more.
Community passes to the main conference (August 2-3) can be
purchased for $110 each ($100 at the early bird rate for a limited
time). Industry passes, which include access to Industry Day (August 1),
the main conference and Industry Track programming during all three
days, are available for $475 eac ($425 for the early bird rate for a
limited time). Passes can be purchased at www.VidCon.com.
Since its inception in 2010, VidCon has grown rapidly every year with
approximately 1,200 people attending in 2010, 2,500 in 2011, 7,200 in
2012 and more than 10,000 expected this year. Event sponsors will
include the leading companies and brands in the online video arena.
"VidCon is about the community that makes up the online video industry,
from content creators and technology providers to marketers and
consumers," said Hank Green, creator and co-founder of VidCon. "Online
video is having a significant impact on the majority of the world's
population, and it is continuing to grow as a form of entertainment that
is rivaling or, in many instances, surpassing the reach of television
and movies."
Online video consumption continues to grow rapidly in the U.S. and
around the world. According to digital research firm comScore (News - Alert), in
December 2012 there were 182 million people in the U.S. who watched a
combined total of 38.7 billion online videos. Almost 85 percent of all
Internet users in the U.S. were online video viewers, indicating that
online video is one of the primary reasons people go online.
Among the online video celebrities expected to be on hand for panel
sessions, concerts and personal meet-ups are: Charlie McDonnell, Dave
Days, Hank and John Green, iJustine, Jenna Marbles, Phil DeFranco, Rhett
and Link, Shane Dawson, Shay Carl, Dane Boe ("The Annoying Orange (News - Alert)"),
Toby Turner, The Fine Brothers, Smosh and dozens of others.
