Health System Executives Appointed to Premier Healthcare Alliance Member Quality and Value Improvement Committees

Twelve health system executives have been appointed to two Premier healthcare alliance stockholder committees working to improve the quality and value of care delivery. The Member Quality Improvement Committee (MQIC) and Member Value Improvement Committee (MVIC) serve in an advisory capacity to Premier's board of directors.

"Committee members play vital roles in setting direction for the alliance by providing expertise and informed decision-making that helps improve healthcare across America," said Mike Alkire, Premier chief operating officer. "The alliance will benefit greatly from their insights and success in reducing costs and, most importantly, enhancing care."

Selected by Premier's board of directors as new members of the MQIC are:

• Scott Betzelos, MD, MBA, vice president/chief quality officer, Presence Health Partners, Des Plaines, Ill.;
• Eric Bieber, MD, chief medical officer, University Hospitals, Cleveland;
• William Downey, president and CEO, Riverside Health System, Newport News, Va.;
• Randall Kelley, president and CEO, CaroMont Health, Gastonia, N.C.;
• Mark Laney, MD, president and CEO, Heartland Health, St. Joseph, Mo.; and
• Stephen Moore, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer, Catholic Health Initiatives, Englewood, Colo.

"These executives will provide input into Premier's strategic priorities and initiatives related to quality improvement across the continuum of care," said Keith J. Figlioli, Premier senior vice president of healthcare informatics. "Using data-driven, evidence-based intelligence, this committee advises the alliance on the best ways to safely and more efficiently care for populations."

Also selected by Premier's board of directors, new members of the MVIC are:

• Victoria Bayless, president and CEO, Anne Arundel Health System, Annapolis, Md.;
• Anthony Filer, chief financial officer, Presence Health Partners, Mokena, Ill.;
• David Gray, president, Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, Ky.;
• Donald Halliwill, senior vice president, finance, Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va.;
• Christopher Howard, regional president/system vice president, SSM Health Care - St. Louis; and
• Matthew Muhart, executive vice president and chief financial officer, Memorial Healthcare System, Hollywood, Fla.
