Evana Automation Wins Contract from a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier
Feb 22, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Evana Automation Specialists, a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI) and leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently received a contract from a Tier 1 automotive supplier to provide two custom, semi-automated assembly cells that will simplify the production of automobile seat rail link arms.
The Company reported that the first automated assembly cell is a multi-station dial that will feed, press and caulk a bushing, as well as feed and press a pin into a link arm. The second automated assembly cell is a multi-station dual dial system that will feed, press and caulk a bushing, as well as pick and press a pin into the link arm and weld it. For the welding process, Evana is integrating a customer-supplied Panasonic robot.
Both assembly cells, which are scheduled for an April delivery, include poke-yokes to verify part presence, press depths, press forces, weld presence and weld bead profile.
"Evana is always happy to win new business from repeat customers," said Randy Wire, General Manager of Evana Automation Specialists. "These new custom assembly cells will feed product to an automated rail assembly line that was also built by Evana."
Evana utilizes diverse technologies to specialize in motion control, robotics integration and system architecture by linking production equipment, material handling systems, data collection, networking, as well as computer software and hardware into flexible, unified technology. Test equipment can be integrated into assembly systems, stand alone systems for automatic testing, or manual test benches. Overall, Evana's custom assembly and test solutions improve efficiency for manufacturers all over the world in industries like automotive, aerospace, defense, healthcare and alternative energy.
