Parents will be able to give their children an upfront monthly wireless allowance which will work on all phones from T-Mobile to avoid overages. This feature enables parents to set and change limits for minutes, messages and downloads like games, ringtones and wallpaper by using a simple online tool.
When the allowance limit is reached, the service will stop for that specific feature and parents will receive a notification. Parents can also keep in touch with their kids by setting up “Always Allowed” numbers which will enable connection even after allowances are fully used up.
Other unlimited calling features that are included in a Family Plan, like myFaves and T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile, can also be used, which preserves the value of the calling plan. Parents can also choose to set allowances on unlimited calling features with additional controls if required.
Family Allowances help parents to choose limits on the time of day a phone may be used, set allowances to zero to prevent the use of minutes, messages or downloads and also select numbers that can be blocked from calling or sending messages to any phone on their family plan.
“Parents across the country want their teens to have a mobile phone to stay in contact, but also want that phone to be used responsibly,” said Lisa Brown, director, marketing at T-Mobile USA.
“With Family Allowances, parents get peace of mind knowing they can reach their sons and daughters, without having to worry about surprise bills. They can also reward their teens for responsible phone use by increasing their allowance,” added Brown.
Family Allowances include such benefits like no surprise bills and it enables parents to teach children the responsible usage of phones. T-Mobile will continue to offer Web Guard a free feature which prevents access to adult-themed Web sites.
T-Mobile continues to serve customers with affordable plans and new devices for satisfying all communication needs of families. The company’s innovative wireless products and services help people connect with one another. T-Mobile USA is the U.S. operation of Deutsche Telekom AG’s (News - Alert) Mobile Communications Business a subsidiary of T-Mobile International.
