WiFi hot spot usage is exploding worldwide, and there is a growing need for a secure connection. People using a WiFi (News - Alert) hot spot want to have their data protected from prying eyes. Once, only coffee shops had WiFi, and it was easy to see how many other users were logged on. However, due to the growing number of WiFi networks now available in places such as airports and hotels, the ability for a person to lurk on the WiFi network and capture clear traffic sent by any laptop user, has become very common.

People want the same type of security as large businesses. SurfBouncer’s technology allows a secure connection from a laptop, Windows, Mac, or Linux to their servers on the Internet. SurfBouncer use technology from Amazon Web Services to provide the resiliency and the power of Open source to make this possible.

SurfBouncer said the additional benefits of using SurfBouncer include having the users’ local IP address replaced by the server IP address. This capability not only prevents malicious Web sites from obtaining the users address but can also play an additional role in preventing identity theft.

The company informs that customers in countries that filter the Internet can bypass the censors because the exit point of the SurfBouncer connection is outside of those countries, in places where the Internet is not filtered.

This year, the company intends to roll out new services including a browser based secure connection, a VPN appliance to secure entire home or small business network, and a secure parental controls service.

SurfBouncer was created by technology veterans with decades of experience in secure networks, internet backbone infrastructure and software development. Leveraging the power of cloud computing as provided by Amazon, these people have created a robust and instantly expandable infrastructure.

This personal VPN subscription service provides access to SurfBouncer’s high encryption servers in order to secure users’ connection to the internet. The company is charging $3.99 per week recurring weekly, $14.99 per month recurring monthly or $99.99 per year, billed annually.

The personal VPN software provided by the company is free and is based on Open-VPN which is a highly regarded and tested open source product. Customers pay only the monthly subscription fee for the service.
