Iristel, a Canadian provider of wireless IP services, has launched a new VoIP

solution, Iristel IP Mobility, which allows customers to use a single phone number to receive calls both from their fixed as well as cellular phone services.
The subscriber-based service also enables users to control costs by allowing incoming and outgoing calls from any location through a dual mode WiFi (

mobile phone, without additional airtime, roaming fees or long distance charges.

Mobility allows users to switch between their mobile and fixed line networks and provides cost-cutting benefits regardless of the cellular service provider being used.
The results of a recent survey commissioned by Iristel, and conducted by Harris/Decima, indicates that 72 percent of mobile device users in Canada want to cut their roaming

and long distance fees. The survey also found that 44 percent of cell phone users prefer using a single phone number and 48 percent want a service to transfer calls from their home phones to their cell phones.
According to Samer Bishay, president and CEO, Iristel, “We are essentially unbundling mobility from traditional voice services offered by cellular carriers and offering a high-quality, low-cost way to maximize the use of mobile devices while cutting long distance and roaming fees.”
Iristel IP Mobility also offers additional services such as a single voicemail box to manage the call traffic from all phone lines of a customer through a single device, and ‘reach-ability’ rules to set their preference of time and nature (business/personal) of calls routed to their phones. Users have the flexibility of choosing the phone they want to receive calls on and of deactivating the service when not needed.
“When I’m on the road, Iristel IP Mobility keeps me connected to my business, family and friends without having to think about additional airtime, roaming fees or long distance charges,” adds Michael Hyatt, CEO and co-founder of BlueCat Networks (

“Basic single number reach and find-me-follow-me services can’t compare to the cost savings and flexibility Iristel IP Mobility offers. Plus, predictable pricing means I don’t have any more surprises at the end of the month,” added Hyatt.
IP Mobility is available in Iristel’s coverage areas across Canada, including cities in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.
