Celltick Partners with China Unicom for 2008 Olympic Games

Celltick has launched a new mobile media service over China Unicom's (News - Alert) network, starting with the 2008 Olympic Games. The new service is designed and implemented as a managed service through Celltick’s LiveScreen Media platform, providing official Olympics-related content directly from Xinhua News including the latest news, results and anecdotes and accompanied by topical games and applications.

Xinhua News is the official news agency in China. Celltick’s new mobile media service will also include content relating to news, lifestyle, fun, business and entertainment. According to companies’ sources, Celltick’s LiveScreen Media application will be embedded on SIM cards that are currently being distributed in China Unicom retail outlets around Beijing.

Stephen Dunford, CEO of Celltick, said that the Olympic Games represents an enormous opportunity for the mobile industry and its managed LiveScreen Media application is ideally positioned to help China Unicom capitalize on its full potential. Celltick is very pleased to be working with China Unicom with their wide reach and significant customer base, both of which according to Dunford will help strengthen their presence across China as it rolls out further LiveScreen Media deployments.

Thanks to LiveScreen Media mobile operators can non-intrusively deliver segmented content, rich media and advertising to a virtually unlimited number of users. Celltick officials explain that unlocking a new revenue source via targeted teasers delivered to the idle screen, LiveScreen Media expands the offering of operators. The solution helps them to tap the rapidly increasing mobile marketing opportunities.

Celltick points out that the launch of the LiveScreen Media service in Beijing will be the first in a series of LiveScreen deployments across China. The company is offering the service in both Chinese and English.

China Unicom is an integrated telecommunications service provider with more than 180 million mobile subscribers nationwide.

Founded in 2000 and privately owned, Celltick is headquartered in the UK with offices in Russia, Singapore, India, Thailand, Israel and Brazil. Celltick cooperates with mobile operators to turn the mobile idle screen into a powerful revenue driver.

Celltick Technologies recently announced a partnership with Greystripe, a company that provides in-game advertising solutions for mobile phone games. Both companies will jointly distribute advertising-funded games for mobile devices through Celltick's LiveScreen Media platform.
