Handmark's Pocket Express Powers Qualcomm's BREW Solution


Handmark (News - Alert) has teamed with Qualcomm by sharing its Pocket Express news, information and entertainment service with Qualcomm’s BREW solution. Support of the BREW solution makes Pocket Express available across all major wireless platforms, the companies said.

Pocket Express is a personalized, on-device news and search service that delivers vital information directly to handsets. It includes free news, sports, weather, travel and more for Palm, Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone and BlackBerry (News - Alert) devices. Pocket Express features an “Extras” catalog with games, ringtones, services and applications, making the mobile experience more fun and productive.
 
Qualcomm’s (News - Alert) BREW provides solution for the development and delivery of advanced wireless data across virtually media category — from full-track music, ringtones and wallpapers to streaming audio, video, navigation and games.
 
It offers marketing and merchandizing option to both on and off device that allows frequent updates and efficient catalog management, as well as flexible pricing options from subscriptions to micro-payments.
 
As a mobile merchandizing and content delivery solution, it gives developers opportunity to achieve wireless success, generating an average of 80.5 million transactions per month in 2007 and paying out over $1 billion in earnings to the BREW developer and publisher community as of March 2007.
 
Paul Reddick, Handmark CEO, said in a statement that his company developed Pocket Express for a broad audience and continues to expand content and services.

Handmark  does development and distribution of mobile media, for a wide range of mobile devices, including BlackBerry, Palm ,Treo, Symbian ,OS, and Windows Mobile devices, as well as the Apple iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod touch.
