GTM Research, a Greentech Media Company, that provides economic and strategic analysis for the global renewable energy industry has recognized eMeter as a leader in the fast-emerging MDM market.
It conducted its research primarily according to vendor criteria, meter data repository, meter data management platform, AMI management functions, customer-facing applications, energy management and utility operations, and others.
According to GTM's Smart Grid Information Strategy" report -"The Emergence of Meter Data Management,” eMeter has been ranked ahead of both Oracle (News - Alert) and Itron.
Its number one position has been attributed to a strong MDM platform and rapid increase in the building of related software products. Out of the nine categories in which research was conducted, eMeter figured in the top two slots in eight of them, entitling it to an overall number one ranking.
This ranking was a sequel to the Positive rating that the company received in Gartner's (News - Alert) "MarketScope for Meter Data Management Products" report earlier this year.
The GTM research reported that EnergyIP was eMeter's leading integration platform for real-time Smart Grid Data management. It has been built for mass deployment in the market, and is clearly superior in cases where multiple entities need flexible access to centralized system-wide meter data. In addition EnergyIP brings with it scalability and adaptability to the utility enterprise.
Certain companies such as Westar Energy, CenterPoint Energy and Ontario Independent Electricity Systems have been able to rapidly deploy meter-to-cash because of EnergyIP. Its flexible platform permits even the addition of other applications such as deployment planning, asset tracking and automated provisioning.
Gary Bloom, CEO of eMeter explained that the current recognition by GTM further validated its standing in the Smart Grid Arena, and established its leadership in its Information platform. eMeter looked forward to being associated more closely with the company's customers to ensure that they received tangible benefits from the Smart Grid.
Chet Geschickter, analyst-at-large at GTM Research and author of the report, said that planned smart meter rollouts and enhanced product offerings from MDM vendors had enabled the MDM market to continue its increased growth rapidly. There was no doubt that eMeter with its best-of-breed technology approach and best practices for utilities had created a unique identity for itself in the smart grid market.
GTM research delivers critical intelligence and advisory services that improve business operations and facilitate informed decision making for our clients.
eMeter provides essential software that enables electric, gas and water utilities to realize the full benefits of Smart Grid. Leading utilities worldwide depend on eMeter Smart Grid Management software to reduce operational costs, improve customer service, and drive energy efficiency.
In a related news release, eMeter announced that The Industrial Technology Research Institute (News - Alert) a Taiwanese research organization that serves to strengthen the technological competitiveness of Taiwan, has selected eMeter’s EnergyIP information platform and customer Web portal for use in its upcoming Smart Grid pilot program.
