Expanded S&C Europe Services Team Offers Local Expertise for Smart Grid Solutions

Story continues below ↓
Chicago-based S&C Electric Company, a global leader in smart grids and renewable energy integration, has brought three new engineers aboard at its UK-based Power Systems Services operation – and with them, a combined 50 years’ worth of experience in utility transmission and distribution systems, smart grids, and renewable energy integration.

The new engineers will perform analytical studies to understand power delivery issues, ranging from reliability problems to renewable energy interconnection issues. This latest expansion continues the growth of S&C's European support operations, which accelerated with the formation of S&C Europe LLC in 2008.

With rapidly growing use of distributed generation, renewable energy sources, and electric vehicles, utilities in Europe are navigating major changes in how electricity is supplied and delivered.  S&C's expanded team offers deep expertise in local issues and requirements and can provide expert counsel on how to improve the reliability and efficiency of the grid amidst these changes.

“Electric power delivery systems are growing increasingly complex,” stated Andrew Jones, S&C’s managing director for Europe. “S&C's growing Power Systems Services team offers hands-on support to help customers manage the biggest changes in power delivery systems in over a century.”

The new S&C Electric Europe engineers are joining an organization that, just last year, won the prestigious Investors in People Award. Simon Jones, Chief Executive of Investors in People in the UK, said, “This was a fantastic achievement for S&C Electric Europe Ltd. I would like to congratulate the organization and its people on their commitment to continuous improvement. Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organizations and their people enhance performance and meet goals. I hope that more organizations in the area will sharpen their competitive edge by choosing to work with us.”

S&C Electric Europe, based in Swansea, Wales, provides electrical switching and protection equipment – including leading-edge solutions for implementing smart grids and integrating renewable resources – to utilities and large power users throughout the European Union.
