Kentucky's Glasgow Electric Plant Board has chosen Elster's EnergyAxis Smart Grid solution to deliver advanced time-of-use billing capabilities to its customers.

With the help of EnergyAxis solution, Glasgow EPB will be able to improve its operational efficiencies. It will also be able to empower its customers to better manage energy usage and lower energy costs.

"Elster has the technology and track record of Smart Grid success that made the EnergyAxis solution the winning choice for our deployment," said William J. Ray, superintendent, Glasgow EPB, in a press release.

"By providing our customers with consumption information enabled by the Elster technology, we are empowering them to make more informed decisions on when, and how much, energy they use, helping reshape the power demands which Glasgow EPB and TVA must satisfy. The Elster Smart Grid solution will also enable us to improve business and operational processes across our entire electric infrastructure," Ray added.

Glasgow EPB is one of the 155 Tennessee Valley Authority power distributors, and an active member of the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association. It is the latest TVA power distributor to partner with Elster as part of the TVA's move toward TOU rates.

With the help of Elster EnergyAxis, Glasgow EPB will now be able to roll out advanced metering and communications technologies and will provide these new rate options, to give the utility's consumers greater control of their energy use and costs.
