Intergraph, a global provider of engineering and geospatial software that enables customers to visualize complex data, announced that utilities across the U.S. are migrating toward Intergraph's InService 8.2.
Five Intergraph customers have already upgraded to 8.2 version of InService, an enhanced solution for operations and control in the dispatch center. These five customers include Central Vermont Public Service, Knoxville Utilities Board, Oncor, PECO (News - Alert) and Progress Energy, Florida.
Three customers including Detroit Edison, Sacramento Utilities Board and Wisconsin Public Service are in the process of migration. Gaining from the advantages of leveraging Intergraph’s InService 8.2 for Smart Grid operations control and dispatch centers, these utilities will utilize the outage management and advanced distribution management system (ADMS) technology in a better way.
Oncor, the sixth-largest electric grid in the United States and the largest distribution and transmission system inTexas, is currently utilizing InService 8. Oncor selected Intergraph for its information flow for mobile workforce and outage and distribution management.
“With InService 8.2, Oncor has established a strong relationship with smart grid technology for command and control SCADA devices,” said Philip McCrory, director T&D Services, Oncor Electric Delivery, in a statement. “This Intergraph investment will continue to improve our customer reliability, dramatically reduce costs and minimize the frequency and duration of customer outages.”
Offering a consolidated user environment to visualize, analyze and operate the distribution network using sophisticated visualization tools through an interactive GIS map, Intergraph's InService 8.2 is providing customers with functionality, visualization and control of the distribution system, moving them toward a smarter electrical grid.
Recently, Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), a science and research university in Japan, has selected Intergraph SmartMarine 3D design and engineering software for use in its Department of Creative Informatics (News - Alert) to use in shipbuilding design research. SmartMarine 3D is a key component of Intergraph's SmartMarine Enterprise portfolio.
