Sensus has announced the introduction of Sensus iPERL smart metering endpoint, which allows global water utilities to leverage the latest in intelligent water system management.
Available in various diameters and lengths for use in residential and commercial applications, the iPERL endpoint is constructed with recyclable materials including a composite, no-lead body. It includes an integrated communications capability that is configurable to meet the requirements of unique global markets.
The new iPERL enables water utilities to collect and share data to improve supply-demand management and create operational efficiencies and reduce costs, the company stated in a press release.
“The iPERL is the cornerstone of our solution for enabling global smart water networks,” said Peter Mainz, Sensus CEO and President in a company press release. “The technology has been proven in deployments across North America. Sensus continues to deliver solutions that enable water utilities to improve productivity, simplify operations and better manage water resources.”
The iPERL captures very low flows for improved leak detection and conservation of resources using a specially designed flow tube and remnant magnetic technology. It has no moving parts, which coupled with a unique solid state design, ensures perpetual accuracy over the full life of the product.
Unlocking the full potential of smart water networks for utilities and their customers, this version of the iPERL sets a new standard in efficient water measurement and low flow accuracy, the company has stated.
Recently, the company announced that Wake Electric Membership Corporation (Wake Electric), a nonprofit electric utility serving more than 35,000 members, has started implementing Sensus FlexNet advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system.
Wake Forest, North Carolina-based Wake Electric is expecting that the AMI system will benefit its members in a seven-county area surrounding the state’s capital of Raleigh. The AMI system is designed to operate over a secure, wireless network using licensed spectrum for two-way, dedicated communication.
