Cyan Holdings PLC, a major integrated software and system design company, today announced that one of its partners will be deploying CyLec, an integrated solution for advanced metering, in a “recently initiated high profile smart grid project in Puducherry, India.”
CyLec is Cyan’s advanced metering solution for energy utilities that transforms the existing power grid infrastructure into a smarter grid system.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, PGCIL, has initiated the smart grid pilot project in Puducherry, India, inaugurated recently by Minister N. Rangaswamy in association with Power Minister, T. Thiagrajan. PGCIL is a public enterprise under the Government of India.
This new smart grid project is aimed at installing an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution across all houses in Puducherry, supporting the objective of the electricity department to save electricity and power.
This AMI solution is expected to enable the electricity department to detect any event of tampering and monitor energy usage pattern online. With this new energy-saving project, it is anticipated that power consumers in Puducherry will benefit from accurate real-time billing information that will help better manage energy consumption.
According to the latest announcement by Cyan, one of its metering partners has deployed its CyLec-enabled meters in the PGCIL smart grid pilot project in Puducherry for evaluation. This installation highlights Cyan’s advanced integrated solution for AMI, CyLec, to outperform expectations and remain in position for six months.
The company and its partner are working with a third-party system integrator to provide a high-performance Meter Data Acquisition System platform that manages and presents core data collected from the meters.
CyLec is an advanced integrated metering solution for high-performance AMI deployments, dedicated particularly to electricity metering. The application can be best optimized for data communications, range, security and interoperability. It offers a bi-directional wireless communication within each meter, offering seamless head end server integration with advanced meter data management system. This integral Cyan solution can be used to monitor and collate meter readings and billing information instantaneously.
It can be deployed to get instant load surveys and tamper alerts in case of energy theft as well.
The solution can also be utilized to send scheduled and batched connect/disconnect messages to the meter, in addition to tariff updates.
John Cronin, executive chairman of Cyan, said they were delighted that one of their meter manufacturer partners is involved in this project driven by PGCIL, and look forward to providing the market with further updates as it develops. Yesterday's RNS concerning the exercise of warrants further demonstrates shareholder confidence in Cyan's market opportunity in India, and provides additional funding for working capital purposes.
Cyan Technology offers flexible, mesh-based wireless solutions for effective lighting control and utility metering. It delivers innovative energy-saving solutions for the lighting and utility markets, and includes CyLec, CyNet and CyLux.
With system integrator partners, the company offers world-class managed services, support functions and SaaS (News - Alert) for better planning and integration.
