Trilliant (News - Alert), a global smart grid communications provider, has renewed its strategic partnership with PowerStream, an electricity distribution company in Ontario.

The alliance is expected to assist PowerStream in providing customers with cost-effective and environmentally responsible means for managing electricity services. For PowerStream, smart meters are an important area of focus as they form the backbone of the utility’s smart grid infrastructure.

PowerStream has selected Trilliant to offer Unit Smart Meter System and Services for residential, and commercial and industrial (C&I) use.

“In part, PowerStream's growth and success over the past four years has been because of our efforts associated with smart metering and intelligent energy deployment,” said Edward Chatten, senior vice president Smart Grid & Strategic Support, in a statement. “Trilliant has played a strategic and technological role in helping PowerStream deploy our smart meter solutions.”

The offerings from Trilliant to PowerStream include engineering design services, project management, installation, commissioning and data management services. These services are offered through its in-house managed services business. Trilliant is working with Quadlogic Corporation as a technology partner in this business initiative.

Recently, Trilliant announced it won a 2009 Smart Grid Product of the Year Award from TMC (News - Alert) and Intelligent Communications Partners for its SecureMesh WAN communications infrastructure.
