GainSpan Corporation, a developer of ultra-low power embedded Wi-Fi solutions, announced a distribution partnership WPG Americas, a San Jose, Calif.-based company and a member of WPG Holdings, the world's third largest electronics distributor.
Under the terms of the partnership, WPG Americas will sell GainSpan's complete line of low power Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) products including the ultra-low power Wi-Fi Chips, Modules, and Evaluation Kits in the Americas. It will also provide service to customers of these products.
"GainSpan's Wi-Fi portfolio is a strong addition to WPG America's line card," said Greg Provenzano, North America vice president of sales and engineering solutions for WPG America, in a statement. "GainSpan addresses the high demand we see from our customers for easy-to-implement and cost-effective Wi-Fi solutions.”
Company officials said that GainSpan products are designed to address market demand for low power and low-cost Wi-Fi connectivity. They are suitable for applications such as smart energy, healthcare, and control and monitoring in industrial, commercial and residential markets.
GainSpan not only makes implementation easy, but also provides WPG America with a leading edge technology solution, according to Provenzano. “It fits right in alongside our strong RF and wireless offering.”
WPG Americas is the first distributor of GainSpain in the Americas. This partnership will expand GainSpan’s market penetration and capitalize on the growing opportunities for low power embedded Wi-Fi, driven by the constant demand by device manufacturers to connect to the Internet, smartphones or existing infrastructure.
"The breadth of experience and customer relationships of WPG Americas, particularly in areas such as lighting control, as well as the global reach of parent company WPG, will be a great asset to GainSpan, and we look forward to a profitable and growing relationship," said David Casey, vice president of worldwide sales for GainSpan, in a statement.
