PEF Selects Telvent to Implement Smart Grid Solutions



Progress Energy Florida or PEF has selected Telvent for implanting smart grid solutions. Telvent's OASyS SCADA solution will be engineered, designed and implemented at PEF. More than 1.6 million electric customers of PEF will be therefore better served by the utility. An announcement in this regard has been made by Telvent.

OASyS DNA, the supervisory control and data acquisition or SCADA system will be implemented by Telvent. Reliable, real-time information from the field can be therefore received by PEF. By seamlessly integrating with the utility’s current software, a user-friendly interface is used to present this data. PEF's distribution network will be managed by Telvent. PEF’s operational integrity will be also maintained by Telvent. PEF will be therefore provided enhanced reliability. The utility will be also capable of making faster operational decisions. Apart from increasing distribution efficiency, PEF will be able to enhance customer satisfaction.

In a release, Ignacio Gonzalez, chairman and CEO of Telvent said, “Integrating these advanced tools is one of the best ways a utility can gain the information necessary to improve efficiencies while updating its infrastructure. Successful results with Progress Energy California or PEC have been previously achieved by Telvent. PEC is the sister company of PEF. Telvent's SCADA system has been used by PEC for the past 13 years. In order to ensure that it receives the latest and most reliable real-time data to manage its operations, PEC recently upgraded the version of SCADA system.
