KEMA, a premier authority in energy consulting, testing, and certification, has chosen Green Energy Corp's GreenBus software platform for its Smart Grid Interop (News - Alert) Lab.
The Smart Grid Interop Lab is an advanced test facility that offers independent verification of device interoperability. It also validates compliance of low-voltage automation devices, meters, and consumer products with evolving smart grid standards.
Traditional and emerging power providers, through GreenBus, will be enabled to become more efficient and reduce operational costs by automating processes, capturing a higher volume of real-time grid operational data and allowing applications to securely share data.
"KEMA is excited to put the GreenBus open, vendor agnostic architecture to use for our customers, because it allows applications to interoperate and access grid operations data in real time," said Ron Chebra, KEMA vice president, in a press release.
"Utilities invest in costly and time-consuming trials to prove interoperability. The KEMA Smart Grid Interop Lab can emulate the utility's proposed production environment at a fraction of the time and cost of a typical interoperability pilot."
Green Energy Corp will design, develop, install, and support the monitoring and control of advanced power system applications like energy management systems, distribution management systems, outage management systems, automated meter reading, advanced metering infrastructure, meter data management, home area networks and others.
The use of GreenBus at KEMA's Smart Grid Interoperability Lab will enable interoperability between applications and will also provide a platform for innovation, through advanced technologies and design, open-source-derived components, and vendor agnostic functionality.
Company officials said that KEMA will also use GreenBus to implement a fully functional microgrid test bed.
Additionally, Green Energy Corp's GreenBus will also be used to demonstrate operational effectiveness, through its advanced data acquisition and control platform.
In related news, KEMA has enhanced the expertise of its Sustainable Use consulting team with four new hires.
