Trilliant (News - Alert), a Smart Grid communications solutions provider for utilities recently joined the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's (NRECA) MultiSpeak Initiative. The move is aimed at further advancing the widespread interoperability of Trilliant's UnitySuite Head-end software.
The MultiSpeak Specification is an industry-wide software standard that facilitates interoperability of diverse business and automation applications used in electric utilities. Cretaed and maintained through the collaboration of NRECA, the initiative is also backed by over 100 software vendors, consultants and utilities. MultiSpeak strives to define details of data that need to be exchanged between software applications in order to support different processes commonly applied at utilities.
As a result of Trilliant’s compliance with MultiSpeak specifications, its customers will be able to easily integrate its smart grid solutions into their critical systems for maximizing the benefits of smart grid, the company officials explained in a press release. According to NRECA MultiSpeak Program Manager , Bob Saint, standardized interoperability achieved through MultiSpeak, will enable Trilliant to offer a cost-effective smart grid communication solution to the utilities.
“Our involvement in the MultiSpeak Initiative reinforces our commitment to serving utilities with best-in-class technology and software that meets interoperability standards to support their Smart Grid initiatives. We want our customers to easily integrate our solutions with their critical systems and maximize the value of the data our solutions provide,” senior vice president of channel businesses at Trilliant Arnie Liepa explained in a statement.
Trilliant's SecureMesh network provides wireless data communications for a variety of demanding utility applications, including advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), distribution automation (DA), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and more. Trilliant currently has more than 200 utility customers including Centrica, Iberdrola USA, and Hydro One Networks and is backed by prominent investors such as ABB, GE, Investor Growth Capital, MissionPoint Capital Partners, UMC Capital, VantagePoint Venture Partners and zouk ventures.
