McCabe Software provides software quality management and software configuration management solutions worldwide. “McCabe IQ” is used to analyze and visualize the security, quality, and testing of mission, life, and business critical applications.

The company is rolling McCabe IQ into their code base for firmware and software. McCabe IQ was chosen considering its ease of use, consistent platform for multiple coding languages, and the ability to uncover code structure, test cases, complexity, and path coverage.

“We are excited to have been selected by Trilliant as they deliver intelligent networks that power the Smart Grid,” said Dale Brenneman, VP of Software Quality Solutions at McCabe Software. “McCabe IQ excels at uncovering source code complexity and security vulnerabilities, as well as enabling the most stringent testing to help secure and improve critical software-based technologies such as the Smart Grid.”

Trilliant’s smart grid communications solutions enable utilities around the world to deliver the benefits of smart grid to their customers. They result in enhanced energy efficiency, improved grid reliability, lower operating costs, and integration of renewable energy resources.

“Software and firmware development is looking at white box unit test coverage and complexity rating. Quality/Risk Management is looking at black box test coverage against instrumented code, and rating the complexity against ease of maintenance and testability,” said Dave Tavares, director of Quality and Risk Management at Trilliant, in a statement.

In other news, Trilliant recently joined the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's (NRECA) MultiSpeak Initiative. The move is aimed at further advancing the widespread interoperability of Trilliant's UnitySuite Head-end software. The MultiSpeak Specification is an industry-wide software standard that facilitates interoperability of diverse business and automation applications used in electric utilities.
