Tantalus, a provider of real-time Smart Grid communications solutions, announced that it has been awarded the Deloitte (News - Alert) Technology Green 15 Award.
The Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award was created in 2007 to showcase Canadian companies leading the way in the field of green technology.
Deloitte also included Tantalus in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 and Fast 500 lists. Tantalus has been ranked 20th in the Fast 50 as one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Canada. In the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 lists, it has received the 97th ranking as one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America.
“These accolades are a testament to the foresight of our innovative customers – utility companies committed to providing premium service to their users by managing resources and costs effectively while also being on the forefront of technology utilization,” said Eric Murray, CEO of Tantalus, in a statement.
Tantalus has been on expansion spree. It expanded into several new territories across North America including the Northeast, the Rockies and Texas. The company recently announced a strategic alliance with Itron to offer solution to utilities that have already installed or are in the process of deploying Itron ERTs.
“The Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award recognizes those Canadian companies that offer solutions to global environmental challenges by creating intellectual property and technology that reduce society’s environmental impact,” said Richard Lee, Deloitte’s National Leader of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Industry Group.
Recently, Tantalus announced that Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative (DETEC) has selected Tantalus to provide advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) functionality for the approximately 40,000 meters on their system.
The new infrastructure will replace a one-way automated meter reading (AMR) system. The Tantalus system is expected to be fully operational within the next three years.
