OnStream, a National Grid company, announced its gas and electricity meters have become smarter through connectivity solutions from Telenor (News - Alert) Connexion.
The company provides gas and electricity metering solutions across the U.K. The new mobile communications-based meters are characterized by lower power consumption and ability to communicate with smart appliances leading to the formation of the smart grid.
Telenor Connexion provides the connectivity for the new OnStream smart meters. The collaboration for the smart metering roll-out in the U.K. included development and extensive piloting in multiple markets.
OnStream offers smart metering services aimed at improving service provision and reducing environmental impact, according to company officials. The company provides a flexible and professional range of meter management services to U.K. energy suppliers.
“OnStream’s high quality solution will play a part in the development of smart metering deployment in the UK over the coming years. The new connected smart meters are significant in the development towards making smart grids a reality,” said Dean Woods, head of Region UK & Ireland at Telenor Connexion, in a statement.
OnStream has already installed more than 95,000 smart meters in homes and businesses throughout the U.K. The company was awarded both “Metering Manufacturer & Technology of the Year” and “Innovation of the Year” for their connected smart meters at the European Smart Metering Awards.
Earlier in September, OnStream announced that The Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) has signed a MarketPlace365 services agreement to develop a virtual tradeshow and interactive social community for the real estate industry.
CRB sources, its MarketPlace365 will have a media library that showcases educational materials on topics like business strategy, performance leadership, marketing management and technology management.
