RuggedCom to Play Important Part in Philadelphia Implementation Project



RuggedCom Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of industrial strength networks, recently announced in a press release that they are an integral part of a Philadelphia implementation project in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent.

RuggedCom will provide RuggedMAX, the world's first utility grade mobile WiMAX platform designed for the harsh environment of an electric substation. The platform supports a unique standalone network architecture, which can operate without the need for an ASN gateway.

"We are delighted that RuggedCom's RuggedMAX solution was selected for this key infrastructure project," says Elik Jaeger, Vice President RuggedWIRELESS, in a statement. "We look forward to helping ensure a successful implementation."

RuggedCom's pioneering leadership in developing technologies and products for the electric power industry delivered the world's first IEC 61850-3 compliant Ethernet switch suitable for electric utility substation environments, the world's first IEEE (News - Alert) 1613 Class 2 error free communication devices, the world's fastest network fault recovery and the world's first fully managed IP67 rated Ethernet switch. The products are expressly designed for use in challenging environments such as those found in electric power substations and "Smart Grids."

RuggedCom was recently ranked among the Deloitte (News - Alert) Technology Fast 50TM for the sixth consecutive year, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Canada, based on the percentage of revenue growth over five years. RuggedCom's increase in revenues of 455 percent percent from 2006 to 2010 resulted in a 36(TH) ranking.For 14 years, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50TM program has tracked the successful growth of Canadian-grown global leaders.
