A provider of smart grid software platform, eMeter recently announced that it will bring the Portuguese language version of its eMeter EnergyIP solution to the Brazilian market.
eMeter’s EnergyIP software has already been introduced in European, Asian and North American markets. 40 customers in 11 countries, according to eMeter, are using the solution as the information platform for their smart grid deployments. The company anticipates strong market growth in Brazil and hence the company decided to bring the translated version of the software to this high growth market.

eMeter EnergyIP is an information platform that has been designed to help gas, electricity and water utility providers to realize full benefits of smart grid technology. By delivering event-driven information and automation in real-time, the solution enables utilities to effectively manage automated metering infrastructure (AMI) and other Smart Grid initiatives.
“eMeter has experienced tremendous growth in the Smart Grid industry in the U.S., Europe and Asia and we're starting to see the beginnings of a promising new market in Brazil as well. Our new Portuguese version will have the flexibility and scalability customers expect from eMeter, making it a logical choice for the evolving Brazilian Smart Grid,” CEO of eMeter Gary Bloom explained in a statement.
In an earlier press release, eMeter announced that the City of Fort Collins Utilities has selected Siemens (News
- Alert) Energy, Inc. for the implementation of eMeter EnergyIP meter data management system (MDMS) for its advanced meter project, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Fort Collins is a progressive utility located in northern Colorado and serves both electric and water consumers.
