The Johnson Electric Group, a provider of innovative motion systems and components for the domestic and industry sectors, introduced the first ever integrated gas meter shut-off module that is expected to have a great impact on the smart grid.
"This ATEX compliant design is the most reliable and efficient gas valve in a compact package," said Jim Dick, senior vice president of Strategic Marketing, Johnson Electric, in a press release, adding, "This product's technology leadership is driven by the evolution of the Smart Grid.”
The company stated that by combining mechanical valve, motor, sensors and control electronics, the compact gas valve can be further engineered to suit applications that require precise position feedback or integrated control functions.
This Saia-GM branded product line features zero pressure drop and improved grid efficiency and conforms to EN60079-11: 2006 protection "i" for gas groups IIA (Methane, Propane) and IIB (town gas) and the newly introduced shut-off module can be used either at the inlet of the meter or the outlet.
Apart from providing the highest grid efficiency with zero pressure drop, the shut off module is highly resistant to shock and vibration and has compact plug-in solutions. Chances of leakage are greatly minimized and the module is stated to be tamper proof.
In other news, Johnson Electric announced an actuator product line for automotive grill shutters. The actuator lineup aligns with the design requirements of automatic grill shutters in a range of vehicles. The Saia-GS branded product line offers the industry’s widest speed and torque range in a compact package and its actuators are designed to operate in all weather conditions with a unique power boost mode to overcome the effects of mud and ice build-up.
