Vivint Secures Homes with Smart Home Automation Technologies

Vivint, a home automation company in North America, says that home technologies are keeping families safe.

Leveraging home automation systems with residential security features, users will have an important line of defense when criminals strike. These systems are capable of preventing burglaries in homes.

“Protecting families is the primary mission of our company,” said Vivint’s chief operating officer Alex Dunn, in a statement. “Our extended home automation features enhance our best-in-class security and 24/7/365 service. Keeping homes and families safe is our number one priority.”

According to a study by researchers at the Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice in Newark, New Jersey, residential alarm systems help lower the crime rate in surrounding neighborhoods.

Families are turning to new technologies that can provide safety, as well as other benefits like energy efficiency and convenience.

Recently, British Columbia resident Monica Whatley and her family were attacked in their home. “For about an hour, we fought off the attacker, who was determined to harm my son and us.” The police apprehended the man, but he was released on bail. Whatley immediately installed a Vivint system.

After a few days, Whatley and her husband were awakened by two masked intruders attempting to get in through the basement window. She pushed the panic alarm on the Vivint panel. The intruders immediately ran away, but stayed parked across the street in their car. Vivint’s 24/7/365 monitoring system acted on time. An operator had already called law enforcement. Within minutes, two police cars were at the Whatley home.

Smart home features can also help even in non-emergency situations, according to Vivint. For example, Maya Morcilla-Moreno of Winnipeg, Manitoba, uses her Vivint home automation system to ensure her four children are safe.

Vivint’s home technology platform integrates a wide range of wireless features and components that deliver simple, affordable home automation. Recently, Vivint announced the launch of its smart grid training center.

The training center will prepare technicians for full scale AMI deployment, including the installation of home area network and load control devices, EV chargers and much more. The 10,000-square-foot facility in Texas houses two fully equipped model smart homes outfitted with Vivint’s home automation, energy and security solutions.
