POWRtec Smart Meters to Improve Energy Grid Efficiency

POWRtec, a California-based energy monitoring company, announced its intelligent smart meters allow users to remotely control devices, such as air conditioners, turning them on and off from any location.

Smart meters allow customers to reduce energy waste significantly. Customers can benefit by making significant savings on the utility bill mainly from power draining devices. POWRtec's networked smart meters constitute a substantial tool in the fight against carbon dioxide emissions.

“The market for smart meters is vast, and we are only at the beginning of the adoption of these new efficiency technologies. POWRtec is working towards a prosperous future, benefiting the environment and securing the requisite continuation of electricity,” the company said in a statement.

Company officials claim that POWRtec is the market's first and most advanced providers of smart meters. POWRtec's products can directly reduce the amount of energy waste and make a meaningful difference to the environment.

A press release from POWRtec said that over the next 30 years, nearly every meter in the world will have to be replaced by a smart meter, such as POWRtec's, to take advantage of the otherwise wasted energy.

There will be huge demand for smart meters as the world is entering an age of scarcity with respect to energy resources. The current proven and recoverable oil reserves are expected to be exhausted in less than 40 years, if we do not change our consumption pattern.

The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that the demand for energy will have risen by more than 40 percent by 2030. We must decrease the emission of the environmentally devastating green house gases, caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

Recently, POWRtec announced that it located space for its first office in Norway. POWRtec plans to move into the new premises in early 2012, marking the starting point of its activities in Norway. The office was established to promote POWRtec's Smart Read meters in the progressive and promising Norwegian market.
