eMeter employs optimized processes which accelerate the set up of pre-configured versions of eMeter’s EnergyIP meter data management or “MDM” system and Energy Engage consumer engagement software.

Officials with eMeter said utilities will benefit from the affordable and fast Advanced Metering infrastructure or, “AMI solution while also deriving benefits of the Smart Grid such as enhanced operational efficiencies, customer responsiveness and consumer engagement for demand management within just weeks.

SmartStart allows utilities to deploy eMeter solutions fast and also access a fully integrated and operational system for testing user acceptance within six to eight weeks. The flexible architecture of the eMeter platform allows utilities to add new capabilities and scale performance seamlessly. New technologies can also be integrated to leverage business opportunities and comply with changes in regulations.

“We were thrilled to see results of the eMeter software in such a short period of time,” commented Rick Morgan, Commissioner, Washington, D.C. Public Service Commission, after the successful implementation of SmartStart methodology at the PowerCentsDC AMI pilot with Pepco.

“eMeter’s best practices and ability to implement quickly allowed our utilities to deliver compelling user experience that enables their customers to make informed decisions and changes in their consumption habits to reduce peak demand,” Morgan said.

SmartStart is available as both a hosted solution and as on-premise solution. It features real-time data validation estimation and editing or “VEE,” time-of-use billing support, and real-time synchronization of AMI and utility information systems.

The Energy Engage feature also provides consumers with detailed views of their hourly energy usage and cost-to-date – enabling energy conservation and with demand management, allowing consumers to engage with utilities more positively.
