The Wi-Fi U-SNAP module will cater to the growing demand for Wi-Fi deployments in homes and small businesses. OEMs will benefit from a complete, easy to integrate solution for adding Internet connectivity to their products.

ZeroG Wireless provides connected devices and its low-power Wi-Fi chips are suitable for any type of device that is compatible to the evolving Wi-Fi infrastructure. The company’s products enable simple, low-cost connectivity for various systems irrespective of architecture thereby reducing time to market and system cost.

Jon Rappaport, chairman of the U-SNAP Alliance, said that the U-SNAP standard provides device OEMs with an easy to use, standardized interface for connecting their products to the rapidly evolving smart grid

“The Intwine Wi-Fi U-SNAP module is a perfect example of what the U-SNAP Alliance strives to achieve, simplifying Internet connectivity and device integration, while ensuring future-proof flexibility,” Rappaport said.

The module helps vendors who are desirous to create smart products with the capability to control and monitor their products. The Intwine Connectivity Suite module includes the U-SNAP form factor and a Wi-Fi compliant FCC (News - Alert) certified module from ZeroG Wireless. This will be a flexible serial interface and connectivity portal for providing intelligent connectivity to microcontroller based products. The module helps consumers manage, control and receive alerts from thermostats, appliances and garage doors.

“We have seen tremendous interest in Wi-Fi applications in the home area network, especially around smart grid applications,” Tim Colleran, vice president of marketing, ZeroG Wireless, said. “The team at Intwine Connect has developed a strong solution and working with them to create a U-SNAP module fits well with ZeroG's goals to deliver easy to use Wi-Fi products.”

Joe Hurst, CTO of Intwine Connect, said that the U-SNAP module offers customers a reliable platform to integrate the power of the Intwine Connectivity Suite into devices manufactured by them. The beta tested version of the Intwine U-SNAP module is now available for purchase. The pricing of the Intwine Connectivity Suite depends on the application, Hurst said.
